Wild Grapes – Ampelocissus latifolia

A visit to Yewoor always springs up surprises., like this flower. My first impression was that this is some kind of wild fruit. Like of bunch of grapes A closer look showed it was actually a bunch of flowers.

The are flowers are of Ampelocissus latifolia. It is also known as wild grapes. Ampelocissus latifolia is a climber found through peninsular India and Sri Lanka. It flowers between March to September. The plant is used in traditional medicine and as a dye  (Int J Pharm Bio Sci 2016 July ; 7(3): (P) 303 – 307).
